@mtracey I’m a regular @wethefifth listener. I went into it with no previous exposure to you or your opinions but I came out so disappointed in your reliance on whataboutism and false equivalency.

Because a deportation proceeding takes time. During that time children and parents aren’t separated. In se cases there are family members in the country who can take the child. There’s time to plan for the care of the child and to attempt to place them in appropriate environment.

The current policy is to literally rip a child out of a parent’s arms with no warning and place them in a facility that is not remotely appropriate for the care of small children.

And again, I am *not* saying this to support the Obama policy. I’m saying sometimes some bad things are much worse than other bad things. It’s why I *do* think it’s hyperbole to call these “concentration camps” because that also creates a false equivalency that’s unhelpful.
