Do you not detect an increasingly prevalent strain of thought on the liberal/left that regards as oppressive most if not all immigration controls? I’m not even criticizing the position per se, at it has a noble provenance

She’s a writer for The Baffler and a member of DSA which is why I thought she was illustrative of my point about the emerging left intelligentsia. Clearly the institutional Dem party is a long ways from embracing border abolitionism. But the intelligentsia is a leading indicator.

As you noted before, the shift will likely be contained to a small but vocal activist/intellectual cohort. Though by no means the dominant force in the party, they’ll be influential enough to heighten coalitional tensions and contradictions
