The liberal/left intelligentsia increasingly seems to be lurching toward an “all immigration controls are inherently oppressive” position, which is fine, but they’ll eventually discover that large segments of the Dem coalition, including organized labor, are not exactly on board

Why is it a pejorative because the right made it so? “No Borders No Walls” is literally in chants. Borders only serve states and militarism.

But "open borders" is only a pejorative solely because there is such broad based support for immigration controls.

And at some point--I don't know when--it's finally going to occur to African Americans that hi-immigration, much less open borders, is utterly disastrous for them. Open borders doesn't have a long provenance, whether or not it's noble.

They seem to be throwing in the towel on organized Labor, save for the SEIU and a few other things.

A global supply chain makes workers issues inherently international; require solidarity not nationalism. Better unions have been standing w/ immigrants and against the removal of protections, solidarity w/ coworkers. The emergent face of labor isn’t so much white nativist anymore
