The liberal/left intelligentsia increasingly seems to be lurching toward an “all immigration controls are inherently oppressive” position, which is fine, but they’ll eventually discover that large segments of the Dem coalition, including organized labor, are not exactly on board

You definitely have his whole "any criticism of immigration system means open borders" shtick down pat.

Do you not detect an increasingly prevalent strain of thought on the liberal/left that regards as oppressive most if not all immigration controls? I’m not even criticizing the position per se, at it has a noble provenance

I think Obama's record of mass deportations (which was shameful) more salient for where Democratic party is like than randos on internet dissing borders.

She’s a writer for The Baffler and a member of DSA which is why I thought she was illustrative of my point about the emerging left intelligentsia. Clearly the institutional Dem party is a long ways from embracing border abolitionism. But the intelligentsia is a leading indicator.

I’m looking forward to this finally getting embraced by the D establishment because then it becomes a fascinating intellectual debate and not a bunch of bullshit posturing

Entirely disingenuous Look at the stats. You are using a response to your tweet that got zero traction from a person with about 4k follows sho is following over 2k. This is NOT the "intelligentsia" of "the left," by ANY stretch of any person's inagination.pic.twitter.com/D74HxRHpJR
