This person founded an advocacy website in which she posted the personal information of random people online for no good reason other than baseless paranoia. In doing so she became a public figure, and fair game for exposure herself. I agree, though probably contacting the employer of her *husband* went too far. I have a lot of respect for
@GatewayPundit &@Cernovich, but don't see why they're bothered that she was publicly identified & criticized by name.https://twitter.com/BadgerPundit/status/1002262510152704004 …BP added,
BP @BadgerPunditReplying to @NameRedacted7The term "doxxing" is overused. I think of it as giving out the street address of someone's home (or sometimes business) and encouraging harassment. Merely outing someone using a pseudonym, so they & their family experience the effects of controversial speech, seems different.3 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

I think those who post pseudonymously need to be *more* restrained than they would be posting under their own name. Otherwise there are ethical issues involving the abuse of anonymity. Seems she made no effort to live up to that ideal.

There's nothing wrong with contacting the employer over the course of reporting. It's standard practice. If you're mad that he was fired, blame the employer.

Just curious but why would they be contacting employers of relatives vs employer of who the story is about? How far does it extend, do you contact employers of their children? Cousins? Parents?

Anyone who has done reporting knows that in order to find out information about a person, you contact their associates. It's utterly standard journalistic practice. If you think the husband was unjustly fired, then your problem is with his former employer, not the reporter.
