  7. From one writer to another, I'd ask you to ask yourself why the only thing you have to write about — the thing you won't let be taken from you — is your ability to write about your relationship to someone else. Where is your identity?

  8. As a writer, I distill life through words. As a mom, I have respectful relationships with young folks who rely on me to be their 1st protector. We're not supposed to be their first consumers, the 1st people who see what they have to offer as a product.

    I noticed a few birds in a grassy area between trees. I decided to get low and see if I could get a good shot. After a while, this beautiful female Northern Cardinal hopped along into camera range. She was the only one that came my way, but I was thrilled she did.

    Wassailing was traditionally done on New Year's Eve, or on "new" Twelfth Night (5 January) or "Old Twelvey" (17 January). Wassailers would toast with songs & a traditional hot spiced cider or ale: blessing houses, orchards and farm animals for the coming year.
