    My latest for The Guardian about Holding Northam accountable is more than fair. I just hope this becomes more of a practice with politicians who were smart enough to avoid evidence of blackface, but impose policies that harm black bodies.

    So this year for I gave myself the gift of discovering new interests that have NOTHING to do with being a mom and I prioritize them without guilt. I encourage every mom to do the same.

    I believe a healthy and happy person makes a healthy and happy parent. I put in A LOT of work to unpack any narrative I was internalizing that didn't support the version of a mother and woman I wanted to be.

    I changed when I became a mom, which isn't a problem. The problem was that I didn't create the time 2 discover what THIS version of myself enjoys. I also was operating under an insane standard of motherhood that says a "good mom" puts everything on the backburner 4 her children.

    As we prepare for I'd like to highlight something important. A friend asked me what part of my life is JUST for me. She asked what part of my life was separate from me being a mom or part of my career. She asked what I enjoyed. I cried because I had no answers.

    As a parent one of my primary goals is to teach my daughter to love, celebrate and value herself for exactly who she is. I’m intentional about this.

    If this breaks your heart like it does mine I suggest contacting your local school and ask how you can anonymously donate a few $ to help pay off high lunch balances for students. Or if you can afford it, pay off an entire lunch bill for a student. It takes a village...

    I wanted to look away. But deserves more. The unchecked abuse of power, lies and deep-rooted corruption in police departments will only produce more innocent dead Black people. Any politician unwilling 2 fight against this will not have my support.
