Trump just defended Charlottesville white supremacists again, responding to Joe Biden’s video. Give it to Biden, Trump exposes his racism again. Trump said, I was defending Gen. Robert E. Lee — the man who fought his country to keep slavery.https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/04/25/meet-trump-charlottesville-truthers/?utm_term=.4ed541833602 …

Robert E. Lee said on numerous occasions not to put up monuments to him or "the cause." So dumb hick conservatives aren't even honoring him by killing to keep his monuments. The best and most appropriate RE Lee monument is the giant 50 foot high Virginia memorial at Gettysburg

Excellent point. He abandoned his country to fight for his state. The country that invested in his military training and believed in him. But REL was treasonists and accept for AL he could have been hanged/hung/faced a Firing Squad. AL wanted to heal US all DJT does is hurt US

People support statue preservation for many reasons - historical, political, aesthetic, etc. DJT like AL took the more sophisticated, adult-level view - he condemned totally those who needed condemning, and did not condemn gray area statue supporters. He wanted healing.

Doubled down on what?? You people haven't even watched the entire press conference or read the transcripts. Right before the both sides comment Trump specifically says he's not talking about the "nazis and white nationalists and they should be condemned totally". Fact!!!

You Trumpers are not getting the point. Biden released a video, and it got Trump to defend his comments. Well played by Biden.

Robert E. Lee was a traitor to his country who fought to maintain white supremacy and slavery. He lost, and then said, we all need to come together, and there should be no statues of me or other leaders. Look. It. Up.

He defended Robert E. Lee, who was fighting to maintain white supremacy and slavery. Rebelled against this country, and his oath, to defend slavery. Do some reading.
