The author decided to also address religious conflict and Nigeria's story was about religious conflict; a Northerner fleeing to the South due to religious conflict (It was a lil more complicated). Anyway, as a Nigerian and a Northerner his story immediately aggravated me.

I was aggravated because his story was more stereotyped than facts. I still kept reading tho because I always finish a book. But it kept getting worse that even my friend noticed I was annoyed so she told me to stop reading it. I eventually gave up & stopped reading.

Before I returned the book to my instructor (I borrowed it), I remember staring at the book and asking myself "Am I angry because this book has stereotypes about the North OR Am I annoyed because it is reality & it's real?" Obviously, I had to answer one way or another.

Now, the point I'm trying to make here is that when we Nigerians are confronted with the truth & reality of what is happening around us, we get angry, we'd rather not hear it because it is easier to point hands at the govt.

We're always screaming change but we're never willing to accept it or the consequences it bears. We blamed GEJ & now we're blaming Buhari. We blamed SAS for Book Haram. Some of these accusations are not entirely false but we the people also have a responsibility.

We keep blaming our leaders for corruption & for the killing but are we not the ones who bred these individuals into society? Didn't they live and grow up amongst our society?

If a nation is crumbling then the people are also to blame because the people are in charge of the officials. WE ARE TO BLAME. The fault is not on Musa. The fault is not on Nnamdi neither is it on Femi. But rather it is on us! You and I, there is no other.

It's not on GEJ not Buhari but me, myself & I. Each and every single one of us is responsible. From birth we draw a clear distinction between Muslims, and Christians. We draw a line between Aboki, & nyamiri. "We are of different ethnicities."

Although, my family was not bothered about religion or culture. I remember growing up & feeling like the North was a world of itself and so was the South & East due to the environment. As if, we are not from the country & that is the world we were all bred into.

This is getting long so I'll cut it short but the Hausa man is not responsible! Neither is the Igbo nor Yoruba! It's time to start pointing our fingers in the right places; at ourselves. Unless, we do not do that then God save us.

Nigeria cannot be saved unless we cleanse ourselves of that ounce of hatred. You think you're clean? Nahh, look again, look beneath that flesh called your heart and hear yourself when you speak. Then you'll realize it. Thank you for reading & reaching this point

God help us.Deze collectie tonen

You didn't address the
#tag you started with, Halima.. Whose fault is it that 86 people were killed in Plateau? Yours? -
I already did address the tag but it was a addressed in a way you did not want to hear or rather you were not expecting. The point was that we are all partially at fault for what happened.
-
You didn't... really!!!! But I understand your point of view tho... No point arguing or picking sides... it's well with our country
-
I agree with you, it is well. But then perhaps you can give me more constructive feedback on how to approach because I do not see anything that'll be new to you.
-
What I could understand from your thread is we changing our mentality and ideology of things but what I think you should have addressed is mitigating measures to the present crises.... what you have said, would help in the long run but we don't want the long run we want actions
-
Yeah that's true and I agree with you but I focused on mentality because I personally believe that changing our mentality is a form of action that is absolutely necessary especially now when we can breed more hate.
-
However, I understand what you mean and I'll keep that in mind for next time. Thank you for your feedback

Hakuna, when a people wake up and distort history to further their interests, you can not come here and put blame on us all. The Fulani want to complete the conquest agenda of Dan Fodio by taking the lands in the Middle Belt.
-
First of all, whether if the Fulani want to complete Dan Fodio's conquest is an opinion of yours so I will not address that. Perhaps, you may have not understood but a community is comprised of people and for a crisis to occur then the people in it have a role they played.
-
Our role in this case is subconsciously and intentionally segregating each other due to different cultures and religious beliefs.
