I got to be part of two projects that collected Spitzer data over the past few months, including using Spitzer to confirm the first TESS earth-size habitable planet - TOI-700d. Thanks to the Spitzer team! You enabled so much groundbreaking science!

Announcement: Our TESSCut service will be brought down so that a fix to the service can be tested and deployed. We will send another message when the service is restored.

Three times today I joked that I'm only interested in stars that are visible to the naked eye, and now I'm starting to believe it.

I quite like both the new Royal Astronomical Society and Space Force logos 🤷‍♀️

All the AAS awards seem to be for scientific research rather than sitting on telecons 🤪

It's argued that masses are essential to analysing HST and Webb transmission spectra. And therefore we need RV masses before the space data. I wonder if for small planets we might sometimes see whether the HST/Webb data is not flat before we invest in RVs.

Dragonfly was the first (or one of the first) competitively selected science missions that was not classed as low-risk. Is this a sea change at NASA or an aberration?

This is one of the reasons that Bryson et al. predict a lower planet occurrence rate: if there are intrinsically more large planets, Kepler must have detected a higher fraction of transiting planets. Therefore, there are fewer planets not detected and hence the frequency is lower

One of the remarkable results of the most recent Kepler occurence rate numbers from Bryson is that they predict super-Earth/mini-Neptune-sized planets are more common than Earth-sized planets. This is the inverse of all the other studies.

At work the men's and women's bathrooms are next to each other. On one floor men's is left, women's right. On another floor they are reversed. Me, about once a month:

One of the heros of the K2 mission is Fergal Mullally . He crated the software behind K2fov and really saved us.

Is this legit? It's really cool! Dust older than the Solar System?! 7.5 billion years old! Does this provide some weight to ideas of panspermia?
