2/x During the days when the chain was called xDai chain, before the Gnosis/xDai merge in November 2021, some supporters of xDai decided to launch an NFT project as a tribute to the original CryptoPunks.

3/x Well, you know what usually happened with CryptoPunks derivatives on other chains or rollups. Most of them were clear rugpulls that did not deliver anything at all.

4/x The case with xDaiPunks was what differentiated the Gnosis Chain community, though. It turned out to be a great way to fund public goods without even mentioning the rationale.

5/x When it was announced, all the OGs of Gnosis Chain decided to mint those NFTs to show that they were the OG users of the chain along with some speculators who wanted to make some quick buck.

6/x What happened? All the 10k Punks were minted in a few days at 12 xDai per NFT, which would net a relatively small amount of funds for the xDaiPunks team.

7/x And then, instead of pulling the rug and disappearing, the xDaiPunks team decided to do something more with the funding they had. And all the Punks were rendered into 3DPunks, still a tribute to the originals.

8/x This was just some simple, but a concrete example by the team, indicating that they are there to ship stuff. And during this process, the floor of xDaiPunks went up as high as 150 xDai, basically netting a 10x return to the minters.
