    Reading, finally, this deep-diving, elegant + tough novel: The Confessions of Frannie Langton. (Wide Sargasso Sea meets Beloved meets meets, oddly, Frankenstein, in a way...) Scissors. So handy.

    The likeness is impressive, but this was the only performance of a child I've ever seen that actually enriched my understanding of the adult they become. The kid worked his socks off and Sy must have paid close attention to him. I could really believe they were the same person.

    The casting for Assane Diop in Lupin as a child to an adult is so spot on it’s scary.

    One hotelier took out a full page ad in the NY Times after Hurricane Maria to announce we were back to normal. Who is "we"? Cuz I'm still not. COVID has made these negotiations more abusive. But with the way Global North has them by their necks, what's the alternative.
