I have popped over to see dad. He is incredibly touched by everyone’s response and would like me to thank you all on his behalf.

We’ve just found this. With lyrics by Pete Talman, ‘Where’s The Sunshine?’ was written for an original Imberhorne School (East Grinstead) production in the 1980s when dad was head of music and Pete was head of drama. It was a fantastic show. I remember it as if it were yesterday.pic.twitter.com/J1E8Gfv3dc

Much to my chagrin, I have discovered that if you agree to be interviewed by the Press Association, they are perfectly within their rights to sell the story to any old tat.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7175283/Piano-playing-pensioner-dementia-applauded-social-media-users.html …

Hi
@alzheimerssoc. Of course, feel free to use the video. I’ve an idea. How about (dad willing) we get him to record his piece on a nice grand in a nice hall with nice string players and then release it as a charity single for you?https://twitter.com/alzheimerssoc/status/1143041500424626176?s=21 …Show this thread -
Hi again,
@alzheimerssoc. I just spoke to dad and he is indeed willing. So, what do you reckon? Shall we?Show this thread -
Err, rather surreally, CBS News will be doing a piece on dad this morning. So, if you're in the States, you'll be able to watch it NATIONFUCKINGWIDE from around 8:50 am US Eastern Standard Time (I don't even know what that means).

After yesterday, I didn’t think things could get much more exciting but
@alzheimerssoc are keen to talk about the charity single idea, and (gasp) one of the U.K.’s top recording engineers/producers has just tweeted this:https://twitter.com/jakejackson/status/1143492797682585601?s=21 …Show this thread -
*thinking out loud* I wonder if the string players might also be old ex-professionals with dementia. Hmm.

If my dad’s music has moved you over the past few days, please consider making a quick donation to
@alzheimerssoc. They do so much to help people living with dementia, and every donation really does make a difference. Thank you. xhttps://bit.ly/2XacBqJShow this thread -

Dad and I have just had a lovely (and surprisingly emotional) chat with
@bbcpaddy for this week’s Broadcasting House programme. You’ll be able to hear it on BBC Radio 4 between 9 and 10 am on Sunday.pic.twitter.com/ZYUABfFbEm

After a few days of detective work, I have managed to locate, thanks to Pete Caruana (the old Head of Art), the original ‘Where’s The Sunshine?’ Imberhorne School cast recording from 1981.https://soundcloud.com/nick-harvey/wheres-the-sunshine …

Dad came over for lunch again today. This is another one of his old compositions from about forty years ago. It’s called ‘Kathy’. Boy, could he write a good tune.pic.twitter.com/MfTv2zMJok

He was a fine pianist back in the day but has recently lost all feeling in the little finger of his right hand. He gets so frustrated when he stumbles over notes.

Would you at all mind if we shared this on our own social media (with credit, of course)? We think it’d be really inspiring for our followers to see just how much music can offer someone living with dementia.
