Note to all UK republicans. This lad covers narcohorror. He wouldn’t get arsed by a modern day £250,000,000 state coronation of a paedo-adjacent slaver. Heed his words.

It’s been a busy, strange, and despite various confounding circumstances involving fates and freaks far too dreary to relate, yet another wonderful year.
So, let’s have a quiz!
What is this?
Clue: Nah. Do one. No clues.
I demand exactitude.
There’s a quid at stake ffs.

I can never decide if Larry Heard sounds best in basements at midnight or fields at 7am.
Just spotted , aka Herr Doktor, aka our jon, aka fatboy, aka the fashion-forward Freah Prince of West Derby, sat grinning on the liverpool bench.
Doctor in the house. Absolute scenes.

Very good point this. The Coronation St reference is spot on.
No one gave a flying fuck Hailey was trans back in 1998.

The ‘trans debate’ right now isn’t really about trans rights. It’s a backlash to social progress that was taking place incrementally and without fuss. The moral panic about trans people was once deployed against gay people as well. It’s corrosive but it will not succeed.

Here’s what ryuichi sakamoto did. Made people imagine what his dreams sounded like so we could dance to them.
45 years after his debut.

Pro tip: do not smoke DMT and listen to Ryu. It’s a waste.

Imagine the immense levels of innate genius required to do this, then.
1978. Ryuichi sakamoto.
RIP, maestro.

The UK in 2023 makes banana republics look like Sweden. We’re as serious as a Sunday Sport editorial. A nation kicked out of the workhouse of zero-hour contracts into the poorhouse of universal credit, and thousands now street homeless like it’s 1994.

#animation Twitter. Who is the most visually inventive and original modern young animator you know?
If you know a brilliant animator with mindblowing skills, send them to me for a brief.

Credit where credit is due, mate.
Particularly in Australia, where reporting on drug-related matters is usually atrocious, sensational, and stigmatising, (with a few standout exceptions)

Imaginary evil is romantic and varied; real evil is gloomy, monotonous, barren, boring. Imaginary good is boring; real good is always new, marvelous, intoxicating.
conspiracy theorists are like those weird people who learn magic, and pretend to be magicians, because they have *no chat whatsoever* and are not in any way magic.
beware the magician.
am astounded no mabgicians were swept up in operation yewtree
Twitter: outside my info bunker of right-on, educated and otherwise smart mates - my comforting silo of people i know, with essentially similar views - it's like millions of people actively working to be stupider.*

England, 01/03/2023. Midazolam trends. Conspiracies abound. And it occurs to me that the net is now just a tool of self-propagandisation, self-disinformation, and is only any good for finding disco records.
I wrote that, it wasn't GPT autogenerated.

But what is most notable to me, rather than the Accrington Stanley punchline, is the implicit glib acceptance of the UK's wealth divide, and the impossibility of social progress when drug laws criminalise people without hope, and the bleak reality of 2020s Britain.

Spaine, as is now well-known from today's news reports, was a child actor and promising footballer. Yet he sank into a life of criminality, driven by poverty and the endemic racism of British society. Drugs answered some of his problems, and exacerbated them.

Spaine needed a wash, and likely somewhere to smoke or inject. Venner wouldn't let him in. When Spaine later gained entry to the property, he killed his friend in anger.
He was later arrested nearby and claimed the attack was carried out in self-defence.

Leroy Venner was kicked and punched to death in Liverpoool, the place of my birth, in July of 2022. He was 53. His killer, Kevin Spaine, was 43. Both men were drug dependent. Spaine was homeless.

The tories are so done. Cargo cultists in culture war Y-fronts.
Give this tireless and generous man your time, attention, and money.
In lieu of rational drug laws, peer-led harm reduction -looking out for your mates and staying cautious and informed - is the best option.
Peace xx

Heard Justin Strauss play this version at the rave we went to for our honeymoon many years ago. It still sounds mint.
