Is there a way to have MSTeams turn on Live Captions by default? Or do I really have to turn it on manually for every.single.meeting?

25 of 26 "chapters" now written. Tomorrow I'll write the introduction, and then the first draft will be complete - meeting my 'end of August' deadline 😀 More details to follow.....

I have spent a lot of time today updating (very) old blog posts that have embedded videos because of the way Google now flags these as issues and I don't want to get punished by Google for very old content that one or two people look at each year :(

Migration guides that involve creating a new (blank) project and copying things over from the old project don't feel like "migration" to me. just me?

Me (thinks) - This looks like an interesting new C# related tool. I wonder how to use it. Instructions, step 1: install Node Me - Nope!

Why do people build websites where the session can timeout while you're still on the log/sign-in page and so don't need a session yet? All it makes possible is for you to take time filling in details and even correct credentials being rejected because of session timeout.

MSBuild files are amazingly powerful but I find them so hard to work with/write/modify. For example, this weekend I finally (having given up on my past two attempts) got it so that after automatically signing a release build, it creates a copy of the output ...

Today's writing challenge: update this message - given I've had 4 months' work in the last three and a bit years.

I need to work on improving my icing skills. But on the plus side that means baking more cakes.
Cup cakes with questionable icing swirls in top

I did a quick experiment to see if large XAML documents can be made more readable by highlighting different elements in different colors. Thoughts and feedback welcomed youtu.be/8xNLN1k4p9A

Today and tomorrow = probably not the best days to be moving house. In our defense, they were chosen for us #MilitaryLife Removal team are still going strong, somehow. The heat + hay fever has defeated me

Period reminder to please add a publish date to your technical articles / blog posts (and preferably a “Last updated” date when they're updated). Some technical content has an “expiration date” and it’s difficult to know how relevant it is without a publish date.

Be better than me. Don't submit PRs like this. Spend the time to find proper solutions. Although this temporary (hopefully) workaround will unblock a few people until the real cause of the problem is found.
// This is a(n admittedly horrible) work-around for the issue logged at #4442
// Adding this delay enables the deployment option to be enabled for new WinUI3 projects.
// There isn't a filter here for only the impacted project types as that would require a bigger rewrite.
// Hopefully, eventually, this can be removed when the underlying WinUI3 or VS issue is addressed.
// Doing this before starting the stopwatch to avoid artificially inflating the time tracking.
await Task.Delay(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(3));

In the past I deliberately followed a wide variety of people to expose me to a breadth of ideas, thoughts, experiences, and opinions so my feed didn't become an echo chamber. A few years later and my feed is full of things I don't care about or have an interest in. What to do?

That'll teach me to make a "does this discussion need to happen on this DL?" comment? - Now, I'm getting two copies of every message
Instead, I'll take this opportunity to say thank you again to all the people who have sponsored me on GitHub. It makes more difference than you can know. - An update on this will also follow shortly.

How dare I! I mean, asking for a contribution (in an unobtrusive way) in exchange for the tool I provide for free. Apparently, I should appreciate that they have (I'm assuming paid) work they need to be getting on with and not be distracted by my "begging for money"

New sign on the door of local takeaway. I think this means: - cost of living changes are being felt - people are spending less - card charges are being felt by small businesses who can't keep raising prices as costs rise - small businesses are struggling 😔
