Completely unintentional (to strike the line judge) but he broke the rules. He knows he did wrong. The right decision was to default him.

Accident or not, intentional or not, overacting by the line judge or not, the rules are that he gets thrown out. He’s not the first.

Happened to Tim! If anything Tims ball was hit way harder. Unfortunately his wayward, not-in-play ball struck a ball girl. She was fine (even played a little game of tennis with the players), but that was the end of the game.
