Thing is, see, only those who have money to travel or own property abroad ever thought of themselves as EU citizens. EU citizenship is a middle class hobby and convenience for businesses wanting cheap labour. The EU is designed to replace the nations it comprises of.
Thing is, see, you took rights and citizenship away from millions of people against their will. So the healing has to start with something more concrete than vague appeals to unity. In the middle of yet another UK recession I had £5 for 2 weeks and no prospect of work. Borrowed money to get on a ferry, worked my way through Holland and Germany. Came home as British as I left, paid off debt, and with new skills got a job. Auf Wiedersehen pet.

Needs to check out what *existential* really means before using it here. We're still friends of 27 European countries but we voted not to be part of their federal project UK 5th largest economy, growing faster than EU & economic growth larger than smallest 18 eu countries in all

Successive governments signed us up to the authority of the European Commission against our will. We've had decades of having our lawmaking outsourced without so much as a "by your leave". Of course, that was totally fine.
