  1. GOP Senators: nice work. He sure sounds like he's chastened, contrite, recognizes that he did something very wrong, and that he's learned his lesson.

  2. The only member of the GOP caucus who will be judged favorably by history. Guts. Courage. Backbone. He took his oath seriously when others didn't.

  4. This is total nonsense -- he has learned nothing other than that he can he get away with anything, because he has accomplices. It's a pathetic excuse for her vote to acquit. So transparent, and so typical. Flirts with doing what her duty requires, and then backs away. Every time.

  5. The obsession with unmasking the whistleblower has only one goal: intimidating people with knowledge of wrongdoing from coming forward. It's pure retaliation. Only champions of corruption think this is a good idea.

  6. Perfect phone call (extorting foreign leaders). Perfect message (banning journalists who ask tough questions and won't be bullied). So much perfection. Another word drained of all meaning.

  7. The rest of the sentence must have been "didn't have what it took...to engage in and cover up corruption and shred the Constitution as well as us family members. We've made it an art form."

  8. This is a completely goofy take. There is no guarantee the House would have obtained Bolton’s testimony, and no guarantee they would have obtained timely court orders. Experience proves the opposite. They made the best of a bad situation. You are parroting GOP talking points.

  9. Senators are acknowledging that this is an exercise in jury nullification. The evidence doesn’t matter. Usually, nullification is the result of sympathy for the defendant. Here it is the product of abject fear.

  10. A modest proposal: House Intel/House Judiciary should serve a subpoena on Bolton for testimony at a hearing next Wednesday. Subpoena the book manuscript now and demand immediate production.

  11. Note the new relevant witness : Cipollone. Seems like that should have been disclosed.

  12. This statement is weak and incoherent. It provides a broad license for future abuses of power, condones the WH’s complete rejection of Congressional oversight, and in the end renders the impeachment process a nullity. The race to the bottom continues.

  14. John Bolton should do a prime time interview this evening.

  15. That is exactly what you said. Watch the actual video rather than the tape that is playing in your mind.

  16. I thought went to law school. Unless H. Biden knew what was in Trump's head, his testimony about his own activities are completely irrelevant. Trump is on trial, not H. Biden. No court in the country would find Biden's testimony relevant.

  17. What a coincidence that et al. yesterday suggested reviewing the manuscript in a classified setting, and today the WH claims it contains classified info. This is a drug deal concocted by the WH and GOP senators to avoid testimony from Bolton.

  18. The idea that Bolton would draft a manuscript that contains “significant amounts of classified information” is ridiculous. He knows what’s classified and what’s not. This is tampering with the pre-publication process to intimidate and achieve political ends.

  19. Don’t believe for a second that McConnell is hoisting the white flag. This is a tactic designed to put maximum pressure on the few members of his caucus who don’t want to be accomplices to an historic cover-up. Buckle your seatbelts between now and Friday.

  20. Shameful and reprehensible. Gallagher should thank his lucky stars that he has someone in the WH who values cruelty over compassion and thinks war crimes are cool. Instead of moving on, he puts a target on the backs of the brave colleagues who testified against him.
