Google organizes all the world’s data but can only spot trends in its own market years late and even then can only deliver half-assed alternatives that nobody wants.

It’s interesting that the companies hoarding all our data - Google, Facebook, Twitter - don’t appear to possess any special ability to predict trends or make investments. Seems like our data isn’t much use for anything other than selling ads.

I suspect they'd be much better at it if that's where they concentrated their fire. We'll probably see that if their ad revenues plateau.
