I dunno, the Pre-Socratics had some very sparse ontologies (everything is water/air/fire/atoms and the void) and I think the sciences have done well to advance beyond such simplistic worldviews.

An ontology has to be both sparse and correct, insofar as we can tell. Multiplying imaginary entities doesn't get you closer to how the world works.

No. Everything else is made of fermions and bosons, or made possible by their different assemblages.
