Our 2nd insula paper is out in ! We found that insular cortex represents current bodily state AND uses external cues to “simulate” future changes to bodily physiology – “How do I feel?” + “How will this make me feel?” More in THREAD…1/7

Congratulations! It's great to see this out. Casual evidence of OFC for making inferences in humans!

Very happy to have this out! Dopamine transients produce learning about antecedent cues, without making those cues valuable. Thread below summarizes our key points👇 Particularly proud as I spent experiment 3🤮 in a bin between squads while pregnant 😂

Nice paper about surprising outcomes that break habits, as well as one of the few published demonstrations (that I know of) showing that it is difficult to show habits with specific satiety; although I do know of several unpublished instances of this same finding.

Fantastic work showing how sensory areas take part in and are necessary for the decision process

Fantastic commentary of current OFC theory from Brianna Sleezer and which includes a nice framing of how our recently published work fits into this bigger picture: Neuroscience: Reevaluating the Role of Orbitofrontal Cortex

Does it seem like *publishing* good research has gotten harder than *doing* good research? Do you long for an alternative? How about Behavioral Neuroscience? Stay tuned, 'cause with your help we plan to take some small steps to combat the insanity..... Geoffrey Schoenbaum

I'm excited to share our paper showing that sensitivity to outcome revaluation during economic decision-making is OFC dependent: Real-Time Value Integration during Economic Choice Is Regulated by Orbitofrontal Cortex

Please share. My lab in the Psych Dept at Stony Brook is recruiting Ph.D. students to begin in Fall 2020. We use Pavlovian fear conditioning to study the neurobiology of memory. Details of our work and instructions on how to apply can be found here
