Love your viz!!! I was curious how a tweak, or bigger change, to the colors might change the viz. Specifically: bigger visual distinction between 0-snow and some-snow or switching to a more semantic color palette (white/brown, and pink to catch attention).https://observablehq.com/@zanarmstrong/how-does-changing-the-colors-affect-interpretation-of-a-hea …

Thank you, that’s really awesome! I didn’t put much thought into the color palette but your comments are very insightful, in particular the need for contrast between no snow and even slightest snow. I should play with it more.

Great observation!
I have spotted a tiny typo in your text. 2013-2014: Euromaidan. -
Thanks! Can you point me to the typo? I can't seem to find it.

You might want to add that the increase in snow is a consequence of global warming heating up the north pole and moving cold air further down south - in other words, that this local increase in snowy winters doesn't debunk global warming in any way, and might not last very long.

Great point! Reworded the conclusion a bit and added a link to scientific explanation athttps://www.iflscience.com/environment/does-global-warming-mean-more-or-less-snow/ …

Awesome work sir. Is there a github repo where we can checkout the code for this amazing visualization
-
The code is on the page — click on the left of each block to see the source. You can edit it in place.

Funny thing at first I thought that more red = less snow (e.g. warmier). So I've re-read article twice trying to understand why "while more erratic due to climate change, they're generally getting snowier". It's good to point it out somewhere like "more red — more snow"

-
Good point! Moved the color legend above the chart for more clarity.
