Marathon test in Sapporo really held safely? Cases were surging before. SoE announcement delayed til after marathon. Put in place hours after the event was over.

The IOC knows they have a good racket going. They don’t want a precedent to appear the olympics are ever even the least bit negotiable, even during a life-and-death situation like a pandemic. They know Tokyo is that possible precedent, so they are going to just roll over Tokyo.

I am preparing myself for the SoE to continue through the Olympics and into the fall. The current, ridiculous situation where you can sit in a crowded restaurant but can’t buy alcohol was born of pure, misdirected desperation. But it can’t be walked back until we’re vaccinated.
