Interested if it might be possible to recognize the front bill in a pack and auto-count bills (assuming they are the same) by flipping through them.
-

-
Level 2: recognize different bills in a pack while flipping through them (this might be way too hard).
-
Would be fun! Not entirely impossible as long as you don't flip faster than 60 bills per second
-
Um, shutter speed.
-
I guess you could record in a high frame rate, like slow motion?https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17296999/how-to-do-slow-motion-video-in-ios …
-
In good lighting — sure, why not. However, I wouldn't rely on slo-mo as it greatly limits the shutter speed. E. g. try to shoot some slo-mo on street at night. It will be quite dark, even on most modern iPhone.
-
ah, didn't realize it was to different things :)
-
Yeah. Shutter speed is exposure-related thingy. iPhone can easily do faster sh. speed, but can't do slower than fps value permits: 60 fps limits you to 1/60 max, and 240 fps — to 1/240. I think regular AR video feed would work just fine in average lighting.

Really interesting! Does ARKit give you the 'flat plane' geometry or do you have to infer that? Same with the depth. Curious what is dead easy and what you have to work hard at...
-
Acknowledging my rusty math and Swift skills, all of this was dead easy. You get the plane geometries, seamlessly plugged in to the Scenekit framework that's been maturing since 2012
-
Would LOVE to see a tutorial on this, would be great to get a grasp on working with ARKit
-
You get the plane detection for free, this intro tutorial is quite good:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ySYFZwkZoio&t=81s …

What API are you using to recognize the images on the bills? I take it you are just storing matching images locally in the app bundle?
-
Correct. But I guess I don't see any reasons they couldn't be dynamically loaded before starting the session

Masking is cool. One question, what if you scan the same bill more than once? Will that get added up too?
-
No, it remembers the note's place in space, even if you walk far away

Does ARKit 2.0 have object occlusion built in? I haven't anything about that specifically yet.
-
Yes, it's actually just a technique for SceneKithttps://github.com/bjarnel/arkit-occlusion …

Thank you Apple

Wouldn’t happen to be using Google’s acquired Moodstocks simage recognition stuff here would you?
-
No, standard ARKit recognition https://developer.apple.com/documentation/arkit/recognizing_images_in_an_ar_experience …
