    I'm starting a new thread, because this has grown out of control and has some incorrect (vastly underestimated) figures. I've been analyzing on and I'm afraid the figures are even worse than I thought.

    Friends, something has been bugging me for a while. The world is burning. We have unsustainable habits that need to change. And changing old habits is hard, really hard. But has to be done. And yet, it seems we are also adapting *new* unsustainable habits ... 1/2

    I know this is not a competition but we learnt that slope graph was invented and introduced by Edward Tufte in TVDQI in 1983. Now I found one from 1927 by Béla Balogh.

    I think we're seeing why visualizations of progressive analysis -- when you get bigger samples of the same data -- should avoid timeline views. The action happening is of learning more; line graphs like this incorrectly ascribe momentum. 1/

    This is an example of the storytelling practice that pervades journalism. Imposing a timeline or story in vote counting to show a progression of the vote from incomplete to complete accomplishes nothing except feed conspiracy theories (another example of storytelling).

    Same here..

    I wouldn't have a career without Flash. It was an amazingly creative time, especially how it let you combine art + code and the incredible community around it. Everything I learned then I carry with me now.
