Sometimes I get ideas (good & bad) and feel the need to test them out. Today's visual Frankenstein: a donut-line chart. Used more of my workout data to test it out.

Teaching requires empathy, the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. You have to ignore the fact that you’re the smartest person in the room (on the subject matter). Unfortunately too many people fall victim to their own egos.

This is the main reason why I struggled with math in college. Most of my professors were consumed with “flexing” their superior knowledge rather than teaching their students.

It is such a red flag 🚩 when teachers/professors use words like “clearly” and “obviously”. If it was that simple, it wouldn’t need to be taught. By using these words, you can make your students feel inferior/incompetent and the subject you’re teaching less accessible.

If you're learning #rstats as a beginner, I recommend keeping an error log when you first start - it will slow you down in the short-term but it should help you to learn and fix recurring errors (and why they're happening).

Fun fact: Caffeine usually doesn’t have the same effect on ADHDers as it does on other people. It doesn’t keep us awake, but it can help us stay focused.
For me, coffee just raises my resting heart rate so no caffeine addiction for me 😅

A 🧵 on one-off data analysis requests. The kind that gets introduced with "can you find that out real quick for me, does not have to be super precise."
TL;DR There is no such thing, ban the idea of one-offs and treat everything like it needs to run again, because it will!

I have another #RStats / #RShiny problem if anyone can help. I can open my app locally but it's failing to launch on shinyapps.io with a server error of 500. When I look at the http trace, it looks like it's saying the connection cache is full.

#RStats Help! I have a data frame with a geometry column and I want to save this to a file. The tricky part is that the geometry coordinates contain commas and tabs. I’m having a hard time figuring out what kind of file I can write this to.
