How does dirt shape food webs? With , we find that generalist caterpillar species narrow their diet breadth in serpentine soil plant communities, shifting the plant-herbivore network towards a more stable structure. Fave PhD chapter :-)

It’s a shame to see field biology and natural history decline in prominence at universities. I don’t have much profound to say about this trend other than that we know very little about the world around us, we are in the midst of a biodiversity crisis, and this isn’t helping.

Two. Whole. Years. Our colleagues have been in prison for simply doing their jobs researching the threatened cats of Iran. I've written & deleted two tweets as can't think what to say. I guess I just want to keep them in public eye.

Excellent science, documenting a heartbreaking reality. Only true love & passion for the organisms could sustain this many years of study, making the take-homes of this paper even more gutting. Thank you for this work, Danielle Salcido and 🐛🤍
