"My body my choice" falls under the "pursuit of happiness" much more for abortion, which allows women to pursue happiness as they wish without being saddled w/a child they never wanted, than vaccination, which only affects your happiness if you believe wild conspiracy theories.

I'm not saying "RIP Twitter" because Elon is going to turn it into Parler/Truth Social, or because he's going to promote "free speech", I'm saying it because I have every expectation he won't know what he's doing and what he does try to do will end up ruining this place somehow.

China is teaching their kids quantum physics and calculus while America is teaching their kids bronze-age fairy tales, how to hate people for what they do in the privacy of their own homes, and how to stop worrying and wait for Jesus to come back. See, I can do this too.

A barge carrying toxic methanol is sinking in the Ohio River and right-wing conspiracymongers are wondering if it's the government deliberately trying to kill us, instead of the more likely answer of deregulated corporations cutting corners thanks to the party they support.

Which sends the message to the majority of white AND black kids that will end up joining the salaried working class that getting paid a fair, living wage is too much of a hardship for your employer, and won't you think of them too? Certainly don't even think of unionizing!

Kochs, Murdoch, cohorts taste victory after decades of concentrated effort to overthrow our Constitutional republic and replace it with a corporatist, fascist regime. Only Joe Biden and the Democrats stand between them and our American liberties. Vote straight Dem ticket.

Problem is, it's nice to *say* we live in a postracial, colorblind society, but that doesn't mean we actually *do*, nor that we don't need to reckon with the full scale of our racist past.

Because boomers became too dominant in American culture and would never admit that the songs of their middle age are "oldies". More charitably, the popular songs of the 80s and 90s sound a lot less like the popular songs of the 50s than the popular songs of the 70s do.

Its almost like Democrats are about leveling the playing field, while Republicans are about keeping it uneven, and their positions on taxes and services stem from that distinction and not from their self-stated principles!

Oh, they're well aware of where the actual Holy Land is, which is why they're so insistent that Israel grab as much land as possible and have Jerusalem as its capital so Revelation can happen. I wish I was kidding. America being the Holy Land is what you'd expect Mormons to say.

"No see, if the Democratic establishment didn't hold Bernie down by pushing Pete and Amy out of the race he'd have won easily! Just don't ask what it says that Biden practically ran the table when it was one-on-one between him and Bernie!"

Or perhaps they haven't solved any problems for decades because the people in the party you support fight tooth-and-nail to keep them from doing so and even to make them worse?

Ah yes, the "enormous amounts of evil" that spewed from Pat's mouth? Oh wait, you mean stuff two consenting adults do in their own homes that affect no one but each other but that you think is "evil" while turning a blind eye to the "enormous amounts of evil" on your own side.

Herbstreit complaining about the "playoff or bust" mentality. That wouldn't have anything to do with the show you're on treating even non-playoff NY6 bowls as an afterthought, would it? #CFBPlayoff

Of course, the vaccine is provided free of charge, and "natural immunity" comes at the price of debilitating side effects and potentially being placed on a ventilator and taking up scarce ICU beds when red states are out of them.

So is your solution to *pretend* we're a nation of one anthem, or to *make* it one by making black people feel like they're fully part of the American fabric and not, say, constantly living in fear of running into police?

The suffering of immigrants, black people living in fear of the police, LGBTQ people, people wanting/needing abortions, etc., is an abstract concept to you and your feelings are more important than their day to day struggles in the real world.

The unvaccinated are a danger to the young, immunocompromised, and others that can't get the vaccine, and to everyone else by providing a place for mutations to incubate. This shouldn't be that complicated.

I do have to laugh at all the conservatives smugly declaring that all the "liberal tears" are because Elon will introduce "free speech" and make Twitter less of a "liberal echo chamber"... declarations they're making on Twitter.

More like Bernie ran (or thought he was running) against the actual Democratic establishment but overestimated Democratic voters' receptiveness to his platform and discontent with the establishment while his supporters demonized anyone who didn't side with him.

No place for traitors? You mean the people that stormed the Capitol because Trump and Fox News lied to them about the election being stolen? I agree, there's no place for them in a major American political party.
