At-home rapid Covid-19 tests in Germany are €1. I took one nearly every morning while I was there for two weeks. In the US, it was celebrated when at-home rapids made it to convenience stores for $24 each. Want to mitigate spread? Make them cheap and accessible to all.

@michaelmina_lab seems quite knowledgeable about rapid test strips and has said in the past that they should cost $1 or less to manufacture. The FDA has apparently taken control of rapid testing in US, which is preventing competition and cheaper imports.

Shortage has brought the price in Germany up to around 3-5 EUR per single test currently.

Yep I just got another box through the post yesterday. It’s crazy the price ppl are expected to pay in USA. Our nhs is in a bad way here, thanks Swann, but at least we don’t have to pay for tests.
