One comment we heard a few times on the tornado survey today “I/we heard the warnings and knew bad weather was coming, but tornadoes never hit this area.” Like the Ian survey, previous personal experience guided most actions followed by the “I can’t believe this happened” #houwx

The last two events I have worked. These resulted in 2 tornadoes from 1 storm. That's it. Left image is December 14th. Right image is tonight. Rotation track heaven and just nothing. Clearly the insane shear did what was expected. Someone needs to do a Mobile Bay field project.

I’ve seen lots of comments about needing to move the car if the 🌪️ shelter needs used. You can park the car over the shelter, just like when you drive your car in for an oil change. Enough sticks out the behind the vehicle that when the lid slides open you can still get in. (1/2)

Tomorrow's environment near the coast has plenty of SigTor analogs. This specific hodograph shape actually appears frequently in coastal states, and can be potent even in QLCSs (example attached). Also some analogs from the hodograph field guide I will never actually finish, lol
