Hey , suddenly denying life-saving treatment to a child who has been on it successfully for 6 years is not ok. Rare parents have way too much stress as it is to deal with this. Please do the right thing.

Wow this is crazy. I get my prescriptions filled in bubble packs. Before that, I had so many errors with that we switched to where I have had good luck for as needed meds. This is scary.

Seriously, this is a govt employee health insur plan?? Making you re-approve something you were already using (with them), by fax w 72 hour turnaround?? All the ONC talk has been about *information* blocking; sounds like we need new policies for blocking *care.* Reprehensible.

Even worse, why does my doctor that has been treating me for three years have to spend hours today convincing some medical director at that I need IVIg. He filled out the form, sent evidence, and still had pushback

An "urgent" "request" system that relies on faxes and takes 72 hours is purpose-built to not work.

We must make the system easier for patients. Over 30 hours spent this week trying to get my IVIG treatment reapproved by insurance (been on it for 9 years). Also, they said that it takes 72 hours to get an urgent request in the queue -relies on FAXES. 72 hours is urgent????

Don’t studies like this also support the patient wants access in ways that are convenient and using functions that meet their needs instead of the horrible patient portals we have today (Or 23 in my case)?

Bless you today for *correctly* nailing the specifics & nuance of patient/caregiver intent re paternalism->autonomy, per , re OUR health data. WE need to judge the trade-offs between need & risk.

Any of my friends want to add their name to the patient and caregivers letter to support ONC in stopping information blocking by EMR vendors?

Great idea! You may also be interested in this patient/caregiver letter to HHS today, primarily by , 21-year-old complex patient whose data is scattered across 23 different portals. (I helped.) How does one manage that??

The concept of interoperability may seem a bit abstract and complex, but the issues with its lack are not. One doctor has no idea what other doctors in one’s care team have done...plus diagnostics, drugs, etc. Etc. In fact, the opioid crisis has this as one one of its causes.

I wish consumers were a bit more aggressive in "voting with their feet" and telling the providers they are leaving just why they are leaving!
