This is why https://github.com/mapbox/wagyu exists, to provide clean polygon geometry to earcut

i'm not sure how that's comparable. for one, it's written in c++ and there doesn't appear to be any wasm port. earcut would probably be fine if not for the colinearity "optimization", as i need to create a triangle mesh that uses all defined vertices.
