    I think all of humanity can sort itself into two basic people types: the ones who deal with differences by making statements, and the ones who approach differences by asking questions. I think the former have always outnumbered the latter, and this is why violence exists.

    And second of all, and the point of this mini-thread, I cringe at the entitlement I too must have displayed over the course of my 20-some years of education every time I complained about an instructor being "unfair" when in reality I just didn't do what I was supposed to do🤷‍♀️(4/)

    So her evals are always far more a reflection of white fragility than her performance. Despite the fact no level of ignorance can surprise me anymore, my blood still boils at the "she shouldn't be allowed to lower my grade just because she disagrees with me!" comments. (2/)

    I've never felt more for professors than I do reading some of the comments students left for my mom in her evals. She teaches at a PWI and has structured her English comp. curriculum around also exposing (the white) students to the realities of racial oppression. (1/)

    Yes. When you’re scared your best won’t be good enough, it feels easier to not prepare and blame the failure on that.

    I’m reading for my mini-seminar & found this from that I could have used as a law student: “Avoid self-preservation through underpreparation. . . . People who feel like imposters sometimes underprepared to shield themselves against the feeling of imposterdom.”

    I find able people are more often upset about language choice than us. I can understand the motive in trying to sound more PC but I just feel like it’s a waste of time when there are so many legitimate issues dealing w/ accessibility & our rights we could be focusing on instead.
