Thanks! The actual game uses a perspective camera actually, just one with a very narrow field of view. This way our 2D assets don't look flat and papery, but we still get that perspective / parallax motion as the cam follows the player around.
I was thinking this the other day... perspective in 2d platformers is really weird (particularly w/ parrelax scrolling), almost like several orthographic layers, but arranged in a receding stack that obeys some rules of perspective. Wow, that was a word salad. Nice gif, tho

Might be interesting to work in toggle-able perspective as a game mechanic...I can't imagine it would be terribly fun to play but it would be a fun way to add depth in both senses of the word. Maybe a hidden ability that disguises secrets in a level
