Completely correct. Online abuse is unacceptable but the likes of Anna Soubry are wanting to suppress any criticism of their betrayal of the Tory manifesto and, critically, of their *pre-election* vote for triggering Article 50https://twitter.com/NadineDorries/status/943067171399315456 …

Amazing, the same people who heckle, boo, abuse and intimidate #Brexit supporting MPs in the chamber, then rise another day to complain to the Speaker that people are trying to shut them down and suppress the debate. #couldn’tmakeitup https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/893980/Brexit-news-latest-hero-Brexit-update-Labour-Conservative-MPs-Theresa-May-EU-UK-video …

A document has been betrayed? Grateful if you could advise how I may offer it my condolences.

Completely incorrect. Where were you when Soubry was taking flack for talking against Brexit, but voting with the Govt?

If a manifesto promise turns out to be undeliverable in the promised terms, or deeply damaging to the country, the betrayal for an MP would be refusing to vote with their conscience in the light of all the information.

If Remainers win the day, don't you journalists dare let them forget for a second their supposed new found passion for UK Parliamentary democracy - their real goal would be to ensure Brussels remains in charge.

Depends on your definition of abuse though; voters have every right to tell Soubry she's undermining democracry via tweets, and to campaign for her de-selection.

Why would any honest politician support a manifesto pledge they discovered was damaging to the nation? Why would any responsible politician deal with national policy through a simple prism of loyalty & betrayal to party? This unthinking herd attitude is why ppl won’t vote Tory.

You’re doing it again - ‘betrayal’ - just because somebody has a fundamental disagreement with their party does not make them a traitor. This sort of language puts you in the same bracket as the DM

Anna may have gone against the Manifesto. She has NOT, however, gone against the Government's Electoral Mandate. This is because the Tories LOST the General Election, and thus DO NOT HAVE an Electoral Mandate. (Please stop me if I'm being too technical, Tim......) 😉
