I keep thinking that one day we will have to go back to discrete components for high-security applications. It will be a lot bigger, a lot slower, take a lot more power, and may need to live in a Faraday cage because of increased electromagnetic radiation. (more)

But it will make attacks like this much harder, because any given transistor does not have the big picture of what is going on. To attack the device, you would need to have extra wires running all over the place to the attack chip.
