  1. every time I agree to give a talk, thinking I can recycle stuff, I end up making a brand new one.. 🤔Is it extreme audience design on my part? Or is it because my research is kind of interdisciplinary so needs to be tailored to the audience? (ling/cog.neuro)

Things I *dont* like about my job: - projects never end, - I only sometimes get to really help people, - my career depends on random factors outside of my control, - no real team work. Things I *do* love: The contents. Sigh...

Why is psychology having trouble shaking the WEIRD problem? My top 4: - doing work with non-WEIRD groups is hard - funding bodies don't care about it - it was eclipsed by the replication problem - deep down, many in psych don't think it's a big problem

Reviewing a paper in which all the linguistic examples contain „John” doing stuff. Except in the example with the verb “to iron” - here “John’s wife” is used as the subject... 🙄

The article is called "What happens when words don't translate between languages" but in actuality it's as much about how speakers augment the expressibility of their languages. Science communication in indigenous languages

Any psychologists out there doing non-WEIRD research as standard, i.e. you don't really see it as a big deal or describe yourself a 'cross-cultural researcher' or similar, and you think much more psychological research should be non-WEIRD in future? We'd like to hear from you.

Do languages encode emotion in similar ways across diverse cultures? When scientists analysed networks of emotional concepts (😍 , 😱 , 😡, 😔 etc) in 2,474 spoken languages, they found some aspects of universal structure, but a large degree of diversity:
