    In 2021 we saw: positive moments in CEC (1.10 to 2.65), Zanaco (0.47 to 2.38) and Lafarge (2.07 to 13.85) as a reflection of their results, corporate action and dividends payout. ZSug was a wild card from 2.55 to 14.50. These would have driven the index together with FX gains.

    One day zambia will need to have a candid conversation about whether it needs a capital market or not. We actually have a great framework but it needs attention. More listings, min 50 to improve liquidity. Address compliance issues. Great institutional participation…

    That is rather surprising as it's a relatively small market with a majority of shares not trading frequently. However, various factors may have driven the performance. For instance the perceived risk, expected growth of earnings, EPS etc, of the larger listed companies.

    Number 1 and should be buzzing about it!! 🤔 Lusaka Securities Exchange: This was the best performing bourse in Africa last year, according to checks by Business Insider Africa. The Lusaka Securities Exchange recorded a 93.2% gain in 2021.

    Surprise surprise Lusaka Stock Exchange is on this list but so many issues around liquidity, under valued stock etc and if you look at best performing stocks, none on the LuSE

    Start up does not automatically mean tech. A start up is a company in the early stages of operations. There are so many of them offline and quite a few of them are doing great numbers. Local capital, local market, local suppliers, local staff etc. You don’t have to do tech.

    Not quite equating them. There are entrepreneurs who only achieve a normal livelihood. You have to agree though that in Zambia, esp in churches & by motivational speakers, entrepreneurship is spoken of as the path to wealth. The whole you can't get rich from a salary narrative.

    I concur with this. Most entrepreneurs are passionate about solving problems and creating an impact. Most want to deliver a good product/service for whatever problem that they are solving before thinking about getting wealthy. There’s more to it like you have articulated.
