Been in SF for 2 hours and it’s heartbreaking. Streets lined with people keeled over, worse than ever. Drugs everywhere. I step into one store where a shoplifter gets caught and beats up a cashier until the police come.
Heading back to the airport.

I've wondered about the YT videos and blogs and news stories about the horrible stuff in SF, LA, Seattle etc - exaggeration? Cherry-picked sensationalism? But real people on the phone, emails, say it is really that bad. :(

it's cherry-picked. I deliver food for the food bank sometimes in some not-so-nice parts of the city (bayview, exelsior, western addition, lower middle class/lower class) and it's not that bad. The Tenderloin and SOMA can get bad, however.

I respectfully disagree. I have spent the last 6 years in the Noe Valley ( avery nice area) and then Union Square (next to Tenderloin &SOMA). Every thing you read about Tenderloin is true. It is filthy, unsafe and lawless. And mind you this is next to City Hall
