this has happened to me too!! if ever you have medical debt that you can't pay, tell them how much you are able to pay and it's more likely than not they'll take it. esp if it's passed off to debt collectors, they just want to recoup whatever they can from the debt they bought.https://twitter.com/azemezi/status/1253333142401769476 …

so i had debt that i thought i’d paid off but turns out i paid one debt collector after they’d already passed the debt off to another different collector
so i got a letter from the 2nd one and called them and told them what i was able to pay & they took it and dropped the rest - Pokaż odpowiedzi

Also once it has been brought by the collections group you can argue responsibility through credit karma to get it removed from your credit report because technically your debt isn’t with the collector it’s with the company.
