Not sure how long I will continue to post on Twitter as it continues its rapid unscheduled disassembly into the abyss. But you can find all my writing and baseball chats on substack right here: http://tinyurl.com/2c9z7v63
Just idiots with paid-for blue checks making up athlete quotes to get clicks and cause headaches for actual reporters.
Can’t imagine this social media platform getting worse.
Tacopina pivots to Carroll's book: "What Do We Need Men For? A Modest Proposal," saying it proposes disposing of all men.
Carroll begins to spell out the literary reference, when Judge Kaplan interjects.
"It comes from Jonathan Swift: 'A Modest Proposal."
The Dodgers can and should (and will, I think?) upgrade their roster this summer. Championships aren’t won in April, which is good for LA because they are not good right now.

Hey @Disney, my home state will happily accept your 70,000+ jobs if you want to leave Florida.
We’ve got great weather, great people, and it’s always a great day in South Carolina!
SC’s not woke, but we’re not sanctimonious about it either.
So my new rescue dog is a runner and I...uh... need an air tag I think? Do any of you guys have experience with GPS trackers on pets who like to take little joyrides up the street?
Twitter Blue is such an amazing comedic gift to us all. Steve Albini famously turned down royalties from producing Nirvana’s In Utero because he doesn’t believe in robbing artists. But yes that same guy is now paying for fake Twitter likes for clout 😭
i know half the dems in congress are afraid of their own shadows but c’mon, an unpopular institution issuing unpopular rulings taking rights from people is also wildly corrupt? that’s an easy layup
The biggest "tell" in Fox's press release about Tucker Carlson's exit is that he is not getting a final show. No chance to say goodbye on his own terms or point people to his next home. Fox says "Carlson's last program was Friday April 21st."
“.. It’s an astonishing business story. Famous people from every walk of life you could think of have, in the span of a few days, grabbed their megaphones to tell the world they did not pay for a specific product.”
Wow, the Twitter Blue replies being at the top of every tweet response really showcases the overwhelming shittyness of the vast majority of Twitter Blue users.
Free for all readers: Fernando Tatis Jr. returns from steroid ban, Vlad Guerrero Jr. vows to never play for the Yankees, Max Scherzer suspended for using sticky substance. MLB is back in its villain era, baby. We love to see it: http://tinyurl.com/3st7xp96
Yesterday Buzz Aldrin deleted a post celebrating Earth Day with a photo of the Earth taken from the moon because all the blue check responses were denying that the moon landing happened.
Any tweet now with science, data, and facts about #climatechange is now swarmed by climate-denying trolls, bots, and idiots because science, data, and facts scare the hell out of them, and because Elon's Twitter now promotes them. What a cesspool. Example: twitter.com/PeterGleick/st…

Surprising early sales returns on the product that the obviously over-its-head new management made much worse, marked up in price, and then gloated that everyone would have no choice but to buy. "No one knows why it's flopping," industry analysts say.
Update for the day after: just before the purge yesterday, 19,469 of the 407k legacy verified accounts I had identified in early April had Twitter Blue. Today that number for those same accounts is 19,497, for a net increase of 28 accounts.
I’m not mad about losing my blue check. Who cares. I’m mad that the worst people on the Internet can now pay $8 to have their shitty tweets show up at the top of the replies to someone celebrating going into remission from cancer.
when I got laid off from a digital media company years ago, I made the managing editor who did the axing cry when i asked her how many times the business plan needed to fail before the people in charge of making the plan suffered instead of the journalists. thinking about that...
Liza Minnelli has outlived Twitter user Aquaria's blue checkmark that she mistakenly paid for so she could edit her tweets and have two-factor authentication 😩, for which she has now been publicly bullied by other Twitter users such as
a funny thing about twitter blue marks bitching about everyone else not being as dumb as they are is that all the paid-twitter replies are bunched at the top for anyone who wants to block 50 dullards in a row
Maybe Reddit is better because the channels are separate. I never go looking for Succession content and wind up having to wade through white nationalist and anti vaxx vitriol to get there. All this co-mingling with people who enrage us cannot be good for societal mental health.
I wish there were a way to migrate all the people I like on here, and all the pop culture and sports and dog tweets, to some other place without all the other bullshit.
"Jury Duty" on FreeVee/Amazon Prime was nothing short of incredible. Funny, amazing production, heartwarming, lovely, all of it. Best show of the year so far. Absolutely blown away.
