As per usual, I'm jumping in on this at the last minute.
But, Moleworks now has a patreon! patreon.com/moleworks
For the time being, it's an entirely voluntary donation page with a single $1 tier. Take a look if you think it's worth it, but you don't have to. <3

A good way to hit it off with your prospective love interest....
Scream. Just scream at them. They'll love it.
(I may need to implement a character limit on names.)

Writing a dating sim where the player character's instinctual response to romantic feelings is to hiss at them like a feral cat is wonderfully fun experience.

Our MC has an... interesting... concept of parties.

Getting to write some of Sterling's route as it overlaps with Seiji's. He's not always the most morally upstanding dateable, but he's usually amusing.

Needless to say, don't pick this option unless you want to destroy your save.

When the PC says something *so* insulting you have to break your own system to convey how much the love interest hates it.

In this case it's even better in that both PC designs are actually quite pretty! They're attractive young people.
But their personality is 1000% gremlin.

I feel like I default to "thirsty gremlin" when writing dating sim PC's but honestly that kind of makes it more fun?
Like, yes, you COULD court these men as a refined young lady. Or you could just make a nuisance of yourself and somehow win their affections later.

Mixing things up by working on Seiji's route for Talpin U.
It's been a bit of a delay, but I'm trying to get back into it.

Happy (Late) #ValentinesDay from 'Gold-Mended Wings'' two lovely boys, Sterling and Seiji. Take your pick. ;)

A combination of wiggle bones and bone constraints are used to move physics-ready hair in time with the head, so it reacts appropriately.

Here's a rotation test to demonstrate.

While I'm on a break from the absolute writing bender that brought this account hobbling back to life again, I've also been working on some Live2D style heads in Blender, to use for sprite animations.
The shading is dynamic, handled through normal maps.

To anyone still following, I apologize for the radio silence. I think we can all understand how difficult, at best, it's been to remain creative when there seems to be no beauty to draw from.
Hopefully, this upswing is a good sign.

After an incredibly taxing year, to say the least, we're up and rolling again on the script for 'A Bird with Gold-Mended Wings'. While progress will still be slow in the midst of ongoing schooling, I feel like I've got a better handle on things.

It's one I'm most pleased with, at that. It's a tight space in comparison to the others but a lot of his character shows through in how neat and optimized it is for that space.

Still alive, still experimenting with background workflow. Primarily because I realized I never made a concrete layout for Seiji's room, as whether he has one tends to be in constant flux between drafts.
The state of the now is... yes, he gets one eventually and here it is.

Would any #renpy devs participating in #nanoreno2020 be interested in discounted commissions for GUI?
$40 for basic image replacement
+$15 for some programming tweaks including ATL and repositioning buttons
$25 for logos
$70 for the whole package ($10 off)
Rate is negotiable
- Yes, I would commision25%
- Yes, but cannot afford56.3%
- No, I wouldn't commission18.8%
- I am not using Ren'Py0%

Boris had become big and protecc, but Aurora was off fighting a dragon anyway. He's doing his best.

Brought the city mesh I'd generated into TwinMotion for rendering, and spend some time experimenting with lighting and processing.
I think it looks nice. :D

He is absolutely beautiful thank you so much aaa!
Ask me on any given day what my wordcount has been and I will legitimately have no idea. I may have taken out just as many as I put back in.
Getting a sense of progress is hard. So, honestly, I may end up taking myself by surprise when I'm done.

I think one of the few cons with working on this revision has been that it's just... really hard to know how much you've actually done. It's not a straightforward rewrite. There's a lot of reusing old things and trimming them down.

Apparently the takeaway of this is, to boost productivity leave your discouraging job, go back to school and get a dog.
???

The result is I'm pretty much done with the skeleton of ch6, and a considerable amount of the reshuffling/fat trimming.
Considering that ch 6 is also like... by far the longest to date, that's doubly impressive.

Ironically I've been much more productive after returning to college than I was before.
This is on top of balancing a barely 10 week old puppy.
I can't tell you how that works. It just does.

Animated background test.
Multiple passes in Twinmotion to extract the background, foreground, and curtains. Animated in AfterEffects.
It might be a bit much, but I've always wanted to try it for this particular background.

For the characters, that is. For me and the quality of the story it's going to be grand.
Because you all know I love nothing more than making these cuties suffer.

I just barely managed to wrap up ch5 of GMW's third draft today, but I'm newly invigorated since ch6 is where *everything goes to shit*.

I'm sure following a still ongoing hiatus with this is uh... making y'all wonder if I actually do anything.
The answer is yes, but very slowly because life is a trainwreck.
Still, I'm excited! And I'm excited to see you all on the other side in a hopefully better and healthier state of mind.
Here's to a new year and new horizons!

For the next two years, I'm going to be enrolled as a full time student, which, while a much better choice for me personally, is going to cut significantly into dev time. All current projects will probably be delayed by quite a bit.
I'll still do my best, but it'll be trying.

So I normally try not to make personal announcements on my dev account, but this one will probably alter how things work for the foreseeable future.
Why, you ask?
Because I'm going back to school to hopefully stop taking shitty dead end jobs.
