I’ve always liked Douglas Murray. He, liked Mark Steyn, really moved past their neoconservativism of the mid 00s. I think they originally thought that America could be a 2nd British Empire and quickly realized that wasn’t at all the case.

Agreed. I also liked Mark Steyn’s America Alone / After America stage. He had such momentum at that point. Strange that he seems to have mostly disappeared off the radar since then.
