The body language is suspect as hell. Too studies, too conscious. Look at the way he bites his lip and looks to one side when he says “It’s been brutal”. This is a man with no real feelings who is putting on a mask for the suckers out there.
The “we’re under attack” trope is a well established one in cults. They’re out to get me - they’re out to get YOU! Again, building himself up as the only one to trust, and to earn that trust you need to send him money. Straight outta the cult playbook.
