Couple of people have asked me about this considering Pakistan doesn’t feature in the Civilisation games. There’s actually a good strategic reason for doing this. As any experienced Civ player knows, Gandhi is an utter cunt and is trigger happy when it comes to nukes. He must be wiped out as early as possible.pic.twitter.com/5yTzh9a9il
Even as far back as Civ 1, Gandhi and the Indians were insatiable bloodthirsty warlords despite their “peaceful” moniker. India was grey coloured - same as the Mongols - not a coincidence. Gandhi even starts off Civ 1 with Mongol advisors.pic.twitter.com/Ghgidw5f9R
There’s a reason for this which I discovered. India is set as the most peaceful civilisation with an aggressiveness attribute of 1. However when a civ converts to Democracy the aggressiveness attribute suffers a -2 penalty.pic.twitter.com/apVtFlzJZj
This means that Gandhi’s aggressiveness attribute subtracts 2 from the initial 1 and due to a bug swings back around to the maximum aggressiveness level of 255 - the highest possible aggression level!pic.twitter.com/uZPhzhyo1g
This bug was later fixed in the later games, but the developers kept in Gandhi’s nuclear bloodlust as an Easter egg homage, meaning that he’s still happy to nuke your ass and so must be eliminated as swiftly as possible.
