Can any Americans out there specifically tell me what is bad and terrible about the DMV? See it referenced all the time and I would like to know more. Please share your DMV stories. Thank you.

Ive got a story that will explain perfectly. 1/7 when I was 18 I was a rickshaw driver in my citys historic district. to do that job you need a special license. one of the forms I needed to apply for said license was a 7-yr motor vehicle report that you had to get from the DMV

2/7 the last time I went at a busy time and had to wait like 2hrs, so this time I get there at like 9 on a Tuesday when it’s empty. still takes me over an hour to even speak to someone who is incredibly rude and barely knows what they’re doing.

3/7 I pay $15 and get the 7yr form. two days later I drive to the rickshaw license office where they tell me that all my other paperwork is fine- but that the DMV gave me some ELSE’s motor vehicle history. DMV isnt open on Monday so I have to wait til tomorrow

4/7 when I go back early morning on a Monday, I re-wait an hour in line until I meet a new slightly less rude but still out of their depth employee who tells me that I can only get a $5 refund bc the other persons form was a 3yr

5/7 I calmly explain that I *paid* for a 7yr form and got someone elses 3yr form. I have my brother text a pic of the receipt that’s in my pants from 2 days ago to prove it.
