This week I have read Blood Meridien and watched Bone Tomahawk and I am now convinced that the greatest blessing Europeans brought to the Earth was dispossessing the red man of his lands.

Currently reading the Orchard Keeper by McCarthy. Read all of his western works in my 20s, now into his southern ones. His voice IS the sound of the landscapes he writes about. Truly no living author is better and hes an amazing refutation of eurotrash pretensions.

I read that when he edits publications at the santa fe institute he removes all superfluous punctuation. Removes nearly all commas. Try reading Henry James, then McCarthy. James florid language falls dead flat afterwards. Sounds silly.
