It struck me that there’s no longer films or shows made about westerners interned in WW2 Japanese camps. At one time there were many: Empire of the Sun, Tenko, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence... I’m guessing this is because it’s no longer ok to show whites suffering at foreign hands

One untold story is that of Muslim pirates raiding European villages for slaves from c.17th century. Numbers are staggering. Led to establishment of US Navy. Google "Barbary corsair"

Oh yes. Very well known. The US national anthem comes from that fight against the Barbary pirates, as do the US marines.
