The Chinese New Year show is really quite an extraordinary thing. The whole country gathers round the TV and shares an experience which has been unknown in the west for a long time.

Chinese style humor isn't really humor at all. I once read a 16th century Chinese joke book and most of the jokes are lame. There was one that looked promising but it overtly long and ended in a silly pun.
Chinese don’t have an original word for humour, they had to copy the west and call it 幽默
