    I guess what I mean by this more specifically is that Old Video Games need not necessarily be an appeal to nostalgia, in the same way that I could not have nostalgia for Bach, and it's a disservice to them and to the form to isolate them in that way

    I’ll take this time to say that I’ve become aware that hating Mappy is some sort of meme, and it’s annoying to be told about it whenever mentioning Mappy. I’m going to say that I love Mappy!

    Now it’s quite a bit better, but it’s not quite perfect. This is “static convergence”, and generally it’s done while observing the center of the raster.

    I’ve moved the red/blue set apart, and the separation is clear. I’ve made it egregiously bad here as an example.

    With each ring set, opening/closing the two (rotating in opposite directions) affects magnitude, while turning the pairs affects phase.

    The order is convention, but generally the set closest to the bell of the tube is for color purity - generally it’s not necessary to touch. Following that is red/blue, and finally magenta/green.

    These rings on the neck are used for convergence and purity adjustments. Adjustments are in terms of polar coordinates, in a sense, and you control pairs of red/blue and magenta/green.
